Social Engineering

In today’s business environment even the most effective layered technical security architecture simply isn’t enough. Organizations need to prevent the compromise of confidentiality, integrity and availability no matter the threat vector. The term "social engineering" describes the technique of using persuasion and/or deception to gain access to information as well as information systems. Such persuasion and deception is typically implemented through human conversation or other interaction such as email.

Online criminals and malicious actors can use sophisticated technology to try to gain access to your network environment or they can use something simpler and easier: social engineering tactics. Some popular tactics include impersonating a company’s staff members and vendors or organizing phishing campaigns using email to attempt to trick a person into handing over their passwords or other sensitive financial or sensitive information.
